In the book of Proverbs, King Solomon references wisdom nearly 38 times. “Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding” (Proverbs 3:13)
Wisdom comes from God. “…The knowledge of the Holy is understand” (Proverbs 9:10) Wisdom IS God; therefore we must come to know Him.
Know Him? Know about Him or experience Him?
Knowing about Him will only give you intellectual understanding. Experiencing Him will give you wisdom. Fearing God is the foundation of wisdom. But what does it mean to fear God? Does this mean we need to be fearful of Him? No!
Fearing God is having a constant awareness of His presence and power in my life.
Fearing God allows Him the opportunity to exemplify His character in my life and glorifies His name. THIS is true wisdom. The more we come to understand our great God, the greater we will comprehend His ways and walk in His counsel.
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6)
How do you get wisdom? “Ask in faith.” (James 1:4-5) The Lord wants to give much wisdom to those who ask in faith.
Lord, teach us to fear your name. May we stand in awe of who You are and lift up holy hands to worship You in spirit and in true. Give us wisdom for this day. Amen.
