God is More Than Enough

"One thing have I desired of the Lord, That will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord ALL the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and the inquire in His Temple...when you said, "Seek my face." my heart said to you, "Your face, Lord, I will seek."" -Ps 27:4, 8

What has your heart? When you search for significance, acceptance, and love apart from God you are believing the lie that God is NOT enough. Sometimes we can even allow the good things in life to steal from the best thing in life. When we try to fill the empty places of our hearts with _______ (you fill in the blank) we are basically living in the lie that God + ____ = fulfillment.

We often think:
-If only people thought well of me THEN God is enough
-If only I had a guy in my life THEN God is enough
-If only I can keep good grades in school THEN God is enough
-If only I keep all my close friends THEN God is enough
-If only I had better parents THEN God is enough
-If only I could be in control of my future THEN God is enough
-If only I looked like a super model THEN God is enough

Our hearts become so dissatisfied with life when our "conditions" aren't met. Our relationship with God becomes conditional based on whether He is performing on our terms. Ugh! ...but that is the truth of what goes on in our hearts. I don't think we would go around boasting that we are believing that lie but are we living that lie? Are we quick to run to our emails, facebook, texting, phone calls, our agenda for the day, or ________ (you fill in the blank) before we met with God? Is HE our number one passion and pursuit. If all the things you hold dear were taken away would God be MORE than enough?

How do we answer the cries of our restless heart? We have been given the richest gift we can ever receive and yet we have exchanged these priceless gifts for "nothingness". To change our perspective we must grasp hold of one thing...praise!

"Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving. and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations." Psalm 100

When is the last time you lifted up your voice to the Lord in praise and thankfulness? My own heart is learning that I MUST desire God above all else. I praise God for He is my rock and my strength. He is my hiding place and my hope. He loves me...and NOTHING can separate me from that Love.

Today, can you purpose to take that which you hold dear and lay it all at the feet of Jesus? Exchange the temporal for the eternal. Only then will you be able to live the beautiful life that Jesus is calling you to live. We can then say as Paul, "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." -Galatians 2:20

Let us glory in our Redeemer!
